Abundant Life is among five finalists for Cville Gives‘s $10,000 grant to be announced April 9 at Cville Gives Grant Night, part of the Tom Tom Founders Festival. The winner of the grant, focused on the issue of affordable housing, will be chosen among Abundant Life, Albemarle Housing Improvement Program, The Haven, International Neighbors, and Piedmont Housing Alliance.
Staff member Treatrous Jackson and board member Clay Daniel pitched Abundant Life’s FIDA (financial literacy) program to Cville Gives members on March 6 (video below). Treatrous is a former program participant who used the skills and match money she gained to buy a house, further her education, and start a business, and now helps run the program. Treatrous and Clay’s presentation begins at the 9:51 mark in the video. They will repeat their presentation at the Grant Night event for a wider audience. In addition to the grant money award, attendees will have the opportunity to give donations to the finalists. A free ticket is required to attend.
