Abundant Life is excited to announce the hiring of Charlottesville native Tessa M. Thompson as our new Elementary Program Coordinator! Tessa will oversee academic and faith-based programs for Prospect neighborhood youth who attend Johnson and Jackson-Via Elementary Schools, as well as the volunteers who serve them. She will also consult on the development of early childhood and preschool programming.
“I look forward to the manifestation of a program that will cater to the needs of youth and families.”
Tessa is no stranger to working with youth. In addition to being a mom, she is an educator, author, and storyteller, community advocate and consultant. Her areas of specialty include childcare, early childhood education, youth empowerment, community care, resource advocacy, social/relational transformation and development. She holds a B.A in Religious Studies and Philosophy from Virginia Union University and a Master of Divinity from The Interdenominational Theological Seminary. After becoming a mom, she relocated back to the City of Charlottesville from Atlanta, GA.
For Tessa, the Elementary Program Coordinator position is a natural fit. “I feel called to this position. Much of my life’s work has been in community, education, and ministry. I look forward to the manifestation of a program that will cater to the needs of youth and families.”
Please say hello to Tessa when you see her in the neighborhood!
